The company :
Tree Water is a young, innovative company that designs and manufactures systems for treating micropollutants contained in industrial effluents. Our teams are made up of scientists and technicians who have applied advanced oxidation processes that have led to the filing of a patent. Our multidisciplinary teams are made up partly of scientists and industrial experts, but also of marketing and financial specialists. A number of partners are also helping us to develop our business.
The DEEP laboratory at INSA Lyon
DEEP is a research laboratory at INSA Lyon whose environmental engineering skills are mobilised to meet the challenges of ecological and energy transition.
Our aim is to foreshadow tomorrow's waste management by helping to develop innovative, compact, energy-efficient and intelligent environmental technologies. The laboratory's activities are developed around 4 themes: the reduction of polluting emissions, the reuse of water and waste, the recovery and enhancement of resources, and digital innovation.
Hosting period: 6 months between the beginning of January and the end of July of 2025.
Remuneration: Internship allowance in accordance with the 2025 legal scale + bonuses depending on the intern's involvement.
Experience & qualities required :
- Education: Chemistry/Process Engineering, level Bac +4/5.
- Knowledge of electrochemistry and/or analytical chemistry and a good level of English would be a plus.
- Autonomy, a taste for experimental work, good writing skills, the ability to summarise, a critical mind and a good aptitude for teamwork.

As part of our industrial projects, we are looking for an intern (Bac +4/5) for a period of 6 months, adaptable according to the prerogatives of the training. The role involves carrying out tests on a laboratory pilot, analysing raw and treated effluents, and making use of the results. The aim of the project is to develop an innovative electro-oxidation process for treating industrial effluents.
The intern will be involved in the parametric study, i.e. the study of the impact of parameters on the efficiency of the process. The main aim of this study is to establish which of 6 parameters have the greatest impact. This study will then serve as the basis for sizing the process.
The main objective of the work carried out on a small laboratory pilot (5 L) will be to optimise its operating parameters from the electrochemical, hydrodynamic and technical points of view. Tests on the degradation of target molecules in synthetic effluents will initially take place in a simplified matrix, then in a more complex one using urban wastewater. The typical pollutants tested will be hydroquinone and PFAS (Per- and polyfluoroalkylates). Industrial trials using real effluents may also be carried out.
